THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF PREGNANT WOMEN TOWARDS THE INACCURACY OF INTEGRATED ANTENATAL CARE VISITS AT GABUS 2 PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER IN 2024

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a natural physiological process that requires proper monitoring throughout its course. Inadequate supervision during pregnancy can lead to complications in the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including maternal and neonatal mortality. Integrated Antenatal Care (ANC) based on the 10T standard is a critical public health strategy to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitude of pregnant women towards the inaccuracy of integrated ANC visits at Gabus 2 Public Health Center in 2024. Methods: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional analytical survey design was conducted in August 2025. A total of 45 first-trimester pregnant women were selected using accidental sampling based on the Slovin formula. Data were collected via validated knowledge and attitude questionnaires and maternal health records (KIA books), and analyzed using the Chi Square test. Results: The majority of respondents had poor knowledge (37.8%) and moderately positive attitudes (35.6%). A total of 62.2% of respondents had untimely integrated ANC visits. Chi Square analysis yielded p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) for both variables. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between knowledge and attitude of pregnant women and the inaccuracy of integrated ANC visits at Gabus 2 Public Health Center in 2024. Healthcare providers are encouraged to strengthen ANC education programs and family support to promote timely antenatal visits.
